Responsibilities:

1. Experience & Technical Proficiency:
– Minimum 6 years of hands-on DBA experience, with at least 2 years focused on MongoDB.
– Deep understanding of enterprise application technology architecture, components, databases, networking, and infrastructure as code.

2. Performance Optimization:
– Implement effective indexes and fine-tune MongoDB and server configurations for optimal performance.
– Understand and refine query performance.

3. Database Health & Monitoring:
– Establish and integrate database health checks into monitoring systems, focusing on:
– Slow query identification
– Monitoring replication lags and node failures
– Analyzing index usage patterns, CPU usage, memory consumption, database locks, and connection numbers.
– Identifying additional relevant database health parameters.

4. Backup, Recovery & Maintenance:
– Ensure optimal backup and recovery solutions.
– Plan and execute database upgrades.
– Oversee maintenance during software releases and outages.

5. Security & Best Practices:
– Harden databases and implement industry-leading practices for backups, replication, and health checks.

6. DR & HA Solutions:
– Design and execute Disaster Recovery (DR) plans and High Availability (HA) solutions.

7. Collaboration & Deployment:
– Collaborate with the application team to understand and assess the impact of upcoming changes, optimizing queries as needed.
– Automate the deployment of database changes for streamlined integration of new builds, patches, or hotfixes.

8. Design Participation:
– Engage as both a DBA and an Application DB, participating actively during the design phase.

Required Skills:
– Expertise in MongoDB.
– Proficiency in writing efficient queries.
– Strong scripting skills, especially in Unix/Shell Scripting and Python.
– Technical proficiency with Linux & Windows platforms.

Responsible for the overall design of applications and mapping client business requirements into systems and technical requirements. Responsible for designing, specifying and selecting information system solutions, considering functionality, data, security, integration, infrastructure and performance.

Participate in process flow analysis and process redesign. Provide detailed functional design documents. Analyze, design, develop and implement software applications using Java, J2EE, Siebel, TIBCO, Web Services, WebSphere, WebLogic, Hibernate, Spring, Struts, JAXB, JAXP, SOAP, REST, JUnit, Maven, Ant, PL/SQL, Java Script, Shell Scripting, Rational Software Architect, SOA, Visio, Erwin, Clear Case and Quality Center with DB2, Oracle and SQL Server as backend repositories on Windows, Unix and Linux based platforms.

Bachelor’s degree or equiv. degree in computer science, engineering or related field & 5 years of experience required.

Proof of knowledge in listed skills required.
